⇔ Objectives
1) Promote research in Comparative Literature on a national scale and, thus, contribute to the production and diffusion of this knowledge throughout Brazil;
2) Bring to a critical perspective and intellectual depth to Comparative Literary Studies that responds to the challenges that Brazilian society and culture present;
3) Support the integration of locally-produced knowledge within the global intellectual debate;
4) Educate teachers at all levels to resolve serious learning problems such as reading, and therefore benefitting Brazilian education as a whole. We seek to increase access to bibliography and other intellectual resources for the teaching of literature;
5) Train highly-qualified staff to work in cultural institutions, both public and private, cultural journals, and in social movements.
